Receiver-in-the-Ear (RITE) Hearing Aid

Receiver-in-the-Ear (RITE) Hearing Aid

Receiver-in-the-ear (RITE) hearing aids are also known as receiver-in-canal (RIC) hearing aids. All of the electronics for this hearing aid are housed inside a case which sits over the ear with exception to the receiver (speaker).  Placing the receiver in the ear canal allows for great sound quality and less output to reach the appropriate targets   due to the proximity of the receiver to the eardrum (inverse-square law).

This style hearing aid is the most popular style today because it is discreet, reliable, easier to repair in the office and available with an open, non-occluding ear canal which feels natural and comfortable for the first time hearing aid user. It is also a great choice for someone who has normal to near normal low frequency hearing thresholds to prevent occlusion.

RITE hearing aids are also available with enough room for multiple options such as induction coils, manual volume controls, memory buttons and wireless technology.  This is the most popular choice for many individuals coming in for their first pair of hearing aids due to Presbycusis (age-related) hearing loss.  The RITE hearing aid is available with size 10, 312 or 13 hearing aid battery option.

The RITE hearing aid is appropriate for almost any level hearing loss from mild to severe.
